Dear HPNA Chapters -

Do you know any APRNs who would like to enter palliative nursing?

The Palliative Care APRN Externship is an opportunity to help attain primary palliative nursing skills. 

The goal of this program is to provide extensive primary palliative education to APRNs to enrich their competency to care for patients with serious illness. The course combines didactic including pain and symptom management, communication skill building, quality, program development, with clinical. Each cohort includes 6 participants allowing individual participant attention from the site faculty. The program is targeted for novice APRNs, or APRNs seeking a course to update their palliative care skills. The application process is based on rolling admission and program availability.

Cost of Total of Program:  $2500 * Participant responsible for Travel, Room/Board and meals outside of course.

Eligibility:  APRNs in any setting or role (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse Midwife)

Includes: Materials/Resources, Breakfast and Lunches During the Course, CEs which have been applied for, Post-Course Mentoring and Support

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation under provider number P0284. This activity has been approved for 50 accredited contact hours and 18 Pharmacotherapeutic Category 1 designated credit hours specific to national ANCC re-certification of the APN/CNS which includes drug specific information, safe prescribing practices, safe medication administration, prescribing methodologies, new regulations and/or similar content.
